The Friday and Saturday collections of this week’s release ‘Shaadi Ke Side Effects’ starring Farhan Akhtar and Vidya Balan were disappointing to say the least. And despite picking up a bit on Saturday, the film did not manage to collect more than Rs 13 crores from the first two days. The Sunday collection is still expected.
The first week collections of the Sajid Nadiadwala and Imtiaz Ali produced film ‘Highway’ directed by Ali and starring Alia Bhatt and Randeep Hooda managed to collect a net revenue of Rs 21,72,73,800 from the Indian box office after being played on 827 theatres across the country.
The collections are not outstanding, but considering the genre of the film and the nature of the publicity spent on the film, it is not a bad proposition and we are told that the makers have recovered the money spent on the movie which was released by UTV.
Also released last week was the film ‘Darr @ The Mall’ which managed to merely collect a sum of Rs 4,80,17,800 after getting a lot more theatres than ‘Highway’. The film which was released in 1197 theatres across India was produced by Abhimanyu Singh and starred Jimmy Shergill and others.
‘Dee Saturday Night’ directed by Jaiprakash and produced by YK Sharma and Roli Prakash managed to collect only Rs 35,40,964 at the box office in its first week after only managing to get 346 theatres. The film starred Arif Zakaria and Prashant Narayanan in lead roles.
Meanwhile ‘Gunday’ by producer Aditya Chopra starring Ranveer Singh, Arjun Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra collected Rs 11,72,50,000 last week from 1408 theatres getting a Total Net collection of Rs 70,78,87,000 by the end of the second week.
Karan Johar’s Hasee To Phasee starring Parineeti Chopra and Siddharth Malhotra managed to collect Rs 1,92,37,749 from 420 theatres in its third week and managed a Total net collections of Rs 34,8,24,749.
Salman Khan starrer Jai Ho is still clinging on to the theatres in its seventh week and has made 10,48,200 in its seventh week netting a total of Rs 1,07,99,18,200 till date.
