Big B made his Hollywood debut this year with the movie ‘The Great Gatsby’ directed by Baz Luhrmann. India’s leading light and international acting luminary Amitabh Bachchan, had made his presence felt in the West too similarly like he had entertained the people of India for so many years.
Recently it is reportedly heard that he has again been approached by Hollywood from the makers of Shantaram, to essay the pivotal and dynamic role of Kader Bhai who is the benevolent Mumbai gangster who becomes the protagonist’s mentor and father figure in the movie. Joel Edgerton who was also seen in ‘The Great Gatsby’ (as Tom Buchanan), will be essaying the central role of Shantaram
The inspiration for the story has been based on Gregory David Roberts’ semi autobiographical novel about an escaped Australian convict who finally ended up as an important part of Mumbai’s underworld. Produced under the banner of Warner Bros’, Shantaram will be lead by Cannes award-winning writer-director Garth Davis and also co-produced by Hollywood actors Brad Pitt and Johnny Depp.
